#twitterfriends I am asking those who love the outdoors to post a picture. A picture that YOU took. No description. The goal is to regain peace and harmony without the negativity. Please copy the text, put a picture on your page and let's look at these. https://twitter.com/g_schlossnagle/status/1422012038239424514

Had a great time talking with the Tech Leaders Meetup. We talked about #devops in the context of speed and quality, compliance, and he had a great question about why automation is so important for DevOps success. Check it out to hear the answer!

Not even from when I spoke 🙂. 2000 or so in Seattle. Guy says he wants to show a friend and I a new OSS IDS he's been working on in the lab. It was @mroesch with an alpha version of Snort!!

That's the way we used to think about the problem. Now we know it's communities of practice > centers of excellence. Communicate intent. @ldavidmarquet didn't elevate the engine room in Turn the Ship Around. We're all responsible for innovation.
Highlight of the morning already...@UberGeekGirl : "well, if you're going to do that, you might as well chmod +x your .bash_history" 🤣🤣🤣
I used to plan on sites for my teams. Rough estimates are $1k each for hotel and flight/person. Few people hit those limits esp on flights which means the rest covers food, etc. 10 ppl = $20K.
The economics of holding on sites once/quarter is $8k vs. $20k/employee/yr. Game over. https://twitter.com/chris_herd/status/1423612280751763458
Having worked in computing this long, it's still interesting how people get worked up immediately when they hear that there is a billion of something (hits/page views/etc.). Units matter! Per second? Per month? Fortnight?
The operation took 1 billion nanoseconds! Oh no!
